Some cities are known
primarily for either their personality, their food, their weather, or their
architecture. New York's distinguishing characteristic is simply its size. Before
you say anything else, you dumbly observe that it's just big
in every way - the area it covers, the heights of its skyscrapers, the
number of restaurants and theaters, the conglomeration of global cultures.
Arguably, no one characteristic sets New York City apart from other major
cities as much as its sheer size. After my first trip to the Big Apple,
that's the easiest summary I can make. The rest of the site goes into a
little more detail. 06/01
